Rules are a necessity for a unit that wishes to grow. Thankfully, I'm very lax on requirements and regulations, so I'll outline a few things here so they're clear.

SPECIAL RULES (CBT)
What does this mean? I'm referring to rules that are not in the CBT Compendium. These rules may be found in supplements like Maximum Tech, Tactical Handbook, and more. In order to avoid making a long list of "approved supplements", I'm going to make one wide-arcing statement: as long as it is an official FASA or WizKids/FanPro published sourcebook (and I have almost all of them), it is fine with ONE exception: Unbound. Unbound is completely unbalanced, and meant as such. If you want to use something from Unbound, contact me first so I can approve of it. If you have a question whether or not it is OK to use a rule from a supplement OR if you want to use a supplement that's not found in a FASA or WizKids/FanPro book, contact me so I can give approval or research the rule. In short: if you want to hot-load your LRMs (MaxTech), go right ahead. Rapid-fire autocannons (MaxTech)? Sure.
What this does NOT mean, however, is the use of special equipment from various sources. While at the moment customizations are not allowed, if/when they become allowed I will only allow equipment from the supplements Maximum Tech and Tactical Handbook, and the latter is iffy, but generally I'll not even question it. Unbound's equipment is not allowed at all, and this is final with me -- I will not make any exceptions. House-brewed equipment will need to be cleared with me. But since customizations are not allowed, this primarily covers the use of alternate munitions. If you want to load your autocannon with precision or armor-piercing ammunition (MaxTech), you are OK.
This doesn't cover personal equipment; this is covered next.

PERSONAL EQUIPMENT (CBT:RPG/MW3)

"Personal equipment" covers any of the many armaments and amenities from the Classic BattleTech RPG/MechWarrior 3rd Edition games and their supplements. Since we are not required to keep track of our ammunition costs/expendatures or repair time/downtime, I will not be a terrible stickler to make you keep track of your character's personal possessions. I don't ever bat an eye to a character owning a weapon, since if you're living the life of a mercenary, it's dangerous to walk around without packing even a knife! However, some common sense should be enforced here. This falls into two simple categories: equipment owned and use of equipment.

Equipment Owned

If you want your character to own an TK-22 Assault Rifle and a Flak Armor Suit, that's fine. However, if you want your character to own a Pulse Laser Rifle or a Gauss SMG, you're going to need a good reason -- both of those weapons are Clan in origin, and your character will either need to have scavenged them somewhere or have been a Clanner already. By the same nature, you shouldn't have crates upon crates of Dragonsbane Disposable Pulse Lasers at your disposal. A price limit of 2000 C-bills per item is reasonable, with the total cost to not exceed 8000 C-bills. If you're a little over, that's fine, but if you start trying to cheat, don't be surprised if I notice and come down upon you (as I read and submit transcripts personally).

Use of Equipment

If you are walking along and get ambushed by a bunch of Death Commandos and pull out a pair of Support Particle Cannons from your pockets and start using them like you're in a John Woo film, I'm going to have a big problem with it. Likewise, if you try and use a knife to penetrate the cockpit of a 'mech, it better end with you getting thrown off and crushed. Operate equipment within the parameters defined in the books, with realistic outcomes.

DIVISION OF LABOR

I give a lot of command autonomy when it comes to how a person runs their regiment/battalion/company/lance. Typically what I will do when getting a new recruit is forward them to a position where they will best be served. This will be answered by the leader of the highest tier of that unit (regiment commander, battalion commander, etc.), and they will forward you to a spot, travelling down the line until a spot is reached. Now, once you reach the lance level, there are two obvious paths: command the NPCs yourself as the lance leader, or assign every position in the lance to a human. EITHER ONE IS ACCEPTABLE. But take note, the former is far, far easier to manage, and the latter should only be done if you know that your team can work in harmony.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYONE UNDER YOUR CHAIN OF COMMAND!
